With March being International Women’s month, the Innovation Factory would like to spotlight a truly amazing and inspirational business leader, Jo McAlister.
Jo is a mindset coach who helps people uncover and rewire the patterns that fuel burnout, anxiety, imposter syndrome, and constant over-responsibility. Using a bespoke method, The Reset Technique, Jo delivers deep, lasting mindset change within 3–4 sessions, blending neuroscience, trauma psychology, and mind-body approaches. Let’s hear from Jo on how she helps others through her work and what it means to be based at the Innovation Factory in Belfast.
Q: Jo, for those who don’t know you yet, what is Jo McAlister Coaching all about?
I’m a mindset and wellness specialist working with high‑achieving professionals and entrepreneurs. My focus is on helping people shift the subconscious blocks that hold them back – things like self‑doubt, anxiety, stress, and burnout. After more than 25 years in this field, I’ve developed a method called the Reset Technique, which helps clients release limiting beliefs so they can move forward with clarity and confidence.
Q: What makes your Reset Technique different from other mindset or coaching approaches?
The Reset Technique works at a subconscious level, which is where many of our deepest patterns and beliefs are stored. Traditional coaching often focuses on conscious strategies – goal setting, planning, reframing thoughts. Those are valuable, but they don’t always address the root cause. My technique helps people let go of what’s been holding them back internally, so they can create real, lasting change in their work and personal lives.
Q: You recently moved your business into the Innovation Factory. How has that changed things for you?
Moving to the Innovation Factory has completely transformed how I work. Having a dedicated, consistent space means clients know exactly where they’re coming, and the environment is calm, professional, and easy to access. It’s also given me the quiet and focus I need for my own work – whether that’s developing new ideas, planning content, or working with clients.
Another unexpected benefit has been the community. Being able to bounce ideas off staff and other entrepreneurs has boosted my confidence and helped me see my business from new perspectives. It’s opened opportunities I wouldn’t have had working alone.
Q: What impact has this new environment had on your business direction?
It’s given me the space – physically and mentally – to grow. I feel more confident in my work, more supported, and more inspired. Being surrounded by innovation encourages me to innovate too. I’ve been able to refine my technique, explore new offerings, and think bigger about what’s possible.
Q: Looking ahead, what are your goals for the coming year?
My focus is expanding the reach of the Reset Technique. It works incredibly well, but many people don’t realise that they can shift their limiting beliefs or that these subconscious blocks are what’s holding them back. I want to change that.
I’m also exploring the idea of creating an online training course, so people can learn and apply the technique in their own time, no matter where they are. Ultimately, I want to help more people transform their mindset, reduce stress, and build the life or business they truly want.
Q: What drives you to keep developing and sharing this work?
I’ve seen the difference it makes. When someone let’s go of a belief that’s been limiting them for years, everything changes – how they show up, how they lead, how they live. Helping people experience that shift is what motivates me every day.
